A wind advisory has been posted for the Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa summits through 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The National Weather Service said west winds of 35 to 45 mph, with gusts up to 65 mph, are forecast for areas above 8,000 feet in elevation.

Motorists, especially those in high-profile vehicles, are urged to drive with caution. The Mauna Kea Access Road was open as of 10:10 a.m. Tuesday.
